(I set up my email address, realized the app was inconvenient for me.. It boots into desktop and works just like Windows 7. You're right about WMC too. Though, you said you can't even get the game to install on Windows 8. And please, if the UX of the W8 search function is actually superior, please provide some use cases where it gets me where I'm going with less digging/user input than W7. He knew when he made those comments that Valve were going to make their own OS and their own living room solution - so what does any smart businessman do? For gaming, I don't feel much of a difference between W7 and W8.

Even if bf4 runs better on W8, its still not worth the upgrade for a single game IMO. I don't like the app store model and i believe Newell was right there, but as the OP said i haven't used any app myself. If I'd have to choose between the both of them, I'd always take Win8 these days.
