I ended up doing a system recovery using my home made backup dvd's. I still have a file under users on the C drive but not sure how to fix this without having to create a new account. If I create a new account, it does show up in the list. Note that if you hide a user account using this registry hack, you won't even be able to use the Switch User menu on the Start menu to get to that
