It could be something to do with your Hosts file (though it probably isn’t), with a rootkit on your hard drive, or with a “poisoned” domain name service (DNS).

I identified the rogue .dll file and uninstalled it, (it turned out to be an annoying shopping ad file !). It was a IPSEng32.dll file, which is a Norton Antivirus Software file. it is located under "accelerated graphics". I should note that this Trojan, Generic10.XXX (replace XXX with a random combination of letters usually beginning with A), has appeared several times this month.
