Can't do a repair because it does the same thing when I boot to the windows 7 disks. My computer shows no earlier restore points, so that didn't work. The defect may even be so bad that it damages the memory stick. I've tried resetting it as well, and nothing. They only way I know to fix it is to turn off automatic scanning of external drives but, that can cause other problems.
